The ChiBall Method

Based upon traditional Chinese medicine, taught in 16 countries worldwide, the ChiBall Method is an holistic, clinical approach to exercise for everybody (available on prescription in Sweden). It opens the doors for you to explore mind/body disciplines, its focus is on balance – harmony – well being. Each movement, stretch and pose is linked to one of the 6 pairs of mendians (invisible pathways), which allows "chi" – our life force to our organs, thus, improving organ function.

The ChiBall is a weightless, aromatherapy-scented ball (hand held) and has 6 colours and scents – and is used to enhance all movements, stretches and poses.

  • Purple – lavender
  • Green – geranium
  • Red – cinnamon
  • Yellow – lemongrass
  • Orange – sweet orange
  • Blue – juniper berry

A typical ChiBall class lasts for 1 hour and comprises of 6 elements based upon the movements of:

  1. Tai Chi (Qi-gong) – to stretch and extend the body moving energy around it and to warm the body and joints and improve circulation.
  2. ChiBall Movement – a sequence of invigorating moves blended together to create energy and increase the heart rate, thus strengthening the heart.
  3. Yoga – for strength, flexibility, concentration and balance.
  4. Pilates – targets the deep postural muscles which when executed with accuracy improve our core strength and stability.
  5. Feldenkrais – uses the ChiBall to improve joint mobility and flexibility and gives you awareness of movement.
  6. Deep Relaxation – using breathing and visualization techniques to decrease physical and mental tension.
